COVID-19/QUARANTINE - EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES

Kidz Skillz has researched the following educational websites and feel they are appropriate for kids of all ages.  They are in order of subject and preference.

Natalie Long is a graphic designer and mom from Canada. She created "My 2020 COVID-19 Time Capsule" worksheets as a way for her now eight-year-old daughter, Olivia to keep track of what is happening day-to-day. Long shared the worksheets on her Facebook page, making them available to the public. The 11-page document consists of various activities like interviewing parents, listing favorite foods, and writing a letter to themselves.

ALL SUBJECTS

Created by experts, Khan Academy’s library of trusted, standards-aligned practice and lessons covers K-12 and is a free resource.

Brain POP is a fun site that covers many subjects. Brain POP covers K-12 (Brain POP Jr is K-3). Brain POP is currently offering free access for schools, teachers, and families.

Crash Course has free, high-quality educational videos used by teachers and learners of all kinds, focusing on grades 6-12.

Codecademy is an education company committed to building the best learning experience inside and out. Codecademy is geared towards high schoolers who want to learn coding or computer programing.

EdHelper.com provides teacher-developed resources to enhance every child's skills and is used by many schools. EdHelper.com is currently offering daily free learning workbooks.

Scholastic Learn at Home provides day-by-day projects to keep kids reading, thinking, and growing. Scholastic Learn at Home offers resources for Pre-K through Grade 9.

School House Rock! was a series of animated musical educational short films covering topics including grammar, science, economics, history, mathematics, and civics.

ABC mouse is a step-by-step learning program for kids 2-8 years old. ABC Mouse currently offers a free 30 day trail and 49% off an annual subscription. Kidz Skillz has reached out to ask if they will offer a free membership during the COVID-19 school closures.

MATH & SCIENCE

Prodigy Game is an engaging, curriculum-aligned math platform loved by over 50 million students and teachers. Prodigy Game is for Grades 1-8 and is free with an optional membership for added features.

Math Playground offers a wide variety of math topics, from problem solving and mathematical art to real world math and thinking games for Grades 1-6.

SplashLearn is transforming the way elementary school children in grades K-5 learn and study math through a highly engaging, and personalized program. SplashLearn has free apps for each grade.

NASA Kid's Club offers a range of resources for kids including games, videos, and e-books. NASA Kid's Club also offers fun activities to do at home for grades K-4.

Amazing Space uses astronomical discoveries to inspire and educate about the wonders of our universe. Amazing Space is sponsored by NASA.

NASA STEM Engagements offers resources for grades K-4 as well as grades 5-8. NASA Express is a weekly email that features at-home activities to inspire learning and exploration.

ENGAGE & ENTERTAIN

Nat Geo Kids has millions of amazing facts about animals, science, history and geography, along with fun videos, games and more.

PBS Kids is filled with great games and fun videos. PBS Kids has a free daily newsletters with daily activities and tips to help kids play and learn at home.

Entertain Kids on A Dime aims to provide parents ways to help keep their kids busy and entertained, all without breaking the bank.

Delish is hosting free digital cooking classes for kids every week day at 1PM on Instagram.

Bestselling and multi award-winning author/illustrator, Rob Biddulph has a series of fun twice-weekly draw-along videos for children forced to stay home due to the current COVID-19 situation.

Smithsonian has resources from its National Zoo, Science Education Center, and Digital Learning Lab. Kids can go on virtual museum tours, learn about animals, do art activities, and play games.

TIME For Kids is currently providing a free digital library for all grades (K-6) for the rest of the school year. TIME has fun articles on Animals, Arts, Business, Community, Environment, Health, History, Science, Technology, Entertainment, and the United States.

DKfindout! allows your child to search, learn, and explore information on a safe and secure site. DK’s clear, reliable, and highly visual content covers all curriculum subjects and more! There are quizzes, videos, animations, fun facts, and more.
